Kurzweil workstation available in the library

A Kurzweil workstation, including Kurzweil 3000 software and a compatible scanner, is available on the first floor of Herrick Library. Kurzweil 3000 is an advanced scanning and reading solution for people who are visually impaired or have reading or learning difficulties, and includes the following features:

* Variable magnification.
* High quality synthetic speech (headphones can be checked out at the library’s front desk).
* Can accommodate scanned or electronic text documents in a range of formats.
* Integrated dictionary for unfamiliar words or terms (including spelling and pronunciation features).
* A “Read the Web” feature, allowing access to millions of Internet pages.

Herrick is pleased to offer this service in cooperation with the Special Academic Services office as part of Alfred University’s ongoing commitment to removing barriers to access for individuals with disabilities.
